12th & C Streets SW Hotel

Washington, DC

As landscape architect for the hotel, LD7 Studio was responsible for the conceptual design of the grounds, rooftop terrace design, and the small pocket park to the north of the hotel. The grounds surrounding the hotel incorporated DCRA required street trees, paving materials, and screening shrubs. The rooftop terrace was designed to enhance the views from the penthouse level gathering space with fire pits, casual seating, and shade umbrellas. As part of the overall site development, the client envisioned the north part of the site be used for a pocket park to give back to the city. LD7 Studio’s design was inspired by the simplicity of material and flora used created by Dan Kiley in his parks. Limestone benches, a bosque of trees, and water features were introduced in the design as a respite and haven for people to enjoy.
