AMGA Headquarters
Alexandria, VA
LD7 Studio was tasked designing the renovation of the original building entrance courtyard that had become overgrown and neglected. Teaming with the architect, LD7 Studio presented a design to the Alexandria Board of Architectural Review, which oversees all architectural and exterior changes within Alexandria. The design was unanimously approved by the Board. The plan incorporates new porcelain paving of various sizes and colors for both the upper and lower terraces and uses paving to define walking key decision points and active vs. passive areas. It converts a non-functioning water-feature into a dual-level planter with green screen for vertical plant growth, and incorporates new site furnishings for employee enjoyment of the new courtyard space. The landscape was completely renovated, enhancing the views to and from Prince and S. Union Streets. All vertical and horizontal wall surfaces are being renovated and cleaned to present a new appearance for the building main entrance area. Project completion is anticipated in the fall of 2019.
