Thompson Residence

Loudoun County, VA

Winner of the Distinction Award from the Landscape Contractors Association of Maryland, Virginia, and DC, this private residence is located in the rolling hills of Loudoun County, with the outdoor entertainment area designed to focus on the picturesque view of the Shenandoah Mountains. The design started with an infinity-edge pool aligned to emphasize the mountain views beyond. A pool house and elevated fire pit area flanked the sides of the pool to direct views to the mountains. The pool house borrowed from the interior of the 10,000 sq. ft. household, using ceiling details and stone to relate the building to the house. A hot tub was located adjacent to the rear entrance to the house for privacy when using, and an elevated fire pit area and swing was placed to overlook the pool and mountain views. A new wood deck with screened evening room below was built off the back of the residence. LD7 Studio provided design, construction administration, and construction management services, as well as coordinated architectural and engineering services for the project.
